I agree with much of what you guys say, but they are just more symptoms of wealth inequality. Most of us who grew up in Australia grew up in a society which by all measurements had one of the lowest rates of income inequality in the OECD. Life was comparatively less violent. Since the 80's we have been world record breakers in growing the gap between rich and poor.
I can predict the response to the punch drunk problem though. Higher taxes on alcohol and increased costs for lower income types who drink to ignore the reality of their poverty.
Result : Greater financial stress on poorer Australians and more uncontrolled anger looking for a target.
