Queensland is already seeing grid issues and generation curtailment related to the amount of solar already in the grid. Until these are resolved (which will likely involve new transmission infrastructure which could take years) building more solar would be very risky.
Wind generation on the other hand is complementary to solar (generation at night for example). And according to AEMO the wind resource in that part of QLD is of very good quality.
