    True
output v cost is the metric.

Solar panels start at a considerable discount with daylight v sunlight hours and
wind similar in that it does not blow all the time, regardless of location.
Additionally, the cost of extended transmission capacity and power loss from remote areas has an impact.

The longevity of solar and wind infrastructure and necessity to replace considerable capital inputs every c.20-25 years,
without subsidies (incentives for developers) and necessitated increased tariffs for consumers as a consequence change the economics from standard models.
Interestingly, the environmental cost has not been quantified and is becoming a major concern re biodiversity and aesthetics.
I'm not against renewables just the 'Mad ' rush to institute a one sized fits all approach, when it is clear that there are many variables need addressing without a globally devised equitable plan and likelihood of targets being met on quite contested science.
