"HENDERSON shipbuilder Austal is on the cusp of finalising a deal with the US Navy potentially worth some $4 billion.
The company this morning announced the US Congress has approved the US Navy?s requested amendment to the make-up of the delivery of 20 warships.
In November, the US Navy decided to split the contract, meaning both Austal and rival bidder Lockheed Martin could each construct 10 Littoral Combat Ships (LCS).
The amendment must be approved by the US government, and President Barack Obama is set to ratify it later today."
