While a Fox News poll is not likely objective or reliable, it is interesting to apply their conclusions. I have pondered how much damage Trump can do to the GOP after he is out of office. Using election data of 81 million votes for Biden and 74 million votes for Trump, for an all up total of 155 million voters. Assume Fox population sample is broadly representative (I know very unlikely) 22% of Fox survey thought Trump was a good President. Therefore assume 22% of 155 million voters, 34 million, are rusted on to Trump no matter what. Given that Republicans down the ticket did significantly better than Trump in the election, it is likely there are close to 80 million Republican voters, from which a chunk voted for Biden, then Republican down he ticket. So it appears that Trump “owns” well over 40% of the Republican vote. (34/80) Explains the reluctance of GOP representatives to resist Trump and his false election fraud narrative. Even if New York DA is successful against Trump, he is going nowhere anytime soon. Maybe somebody can check my maths here.

What you are saying comes down to the Republican's being caught between a rock and a hard place over what to do about Trump. IMO Trump has already split that party into Trump lovers and Trump haters, or lunatic conspiracies versus the saner lot. If Trump does not fade away after leaving office the GOP is in for testing times next year.
