There is certainly evidence to suggest that it will take a while for shale to gain appreciation here in Aus. I had originally thought success at arrowsmith will see a rocket in the s/p. Im now more of the opinion of modest short term increase with long term price appreciation. It must be remembered that this well is solely to test the formations (excluding the HCSS). There will be many wells and some long timescales to fully value what NWE has (if they have it!). I would be very surprised if the majors are not watching with interest and would look at a takeover early in the piece. Hopefully that doesnt play out and the true value of the shale can be shown in NWE share price, which in my opinion could be many many multiples of current share price. Just dont expect it any time soon.
