How about an alternative thread; are wind farms evil?
I just did a quick calculation; based on a rough foundation size of 300 cubic metres using 22 Tonnes of steel reinforcing, it takes about 41 Tonnes of coal to provide the energy to produce the cement and steel just for the foundation of one wind tower. Once the wind tower is operating, cutting a swathe through the local bird/bat population (O.K., I am adding a bit of hype myself), you still need baseload power operating 24/7, at low efficiency, for when the wind drops. In the meantime, you have destroyed the view in some of the best locations around the country.
What a great alternative to sourcing the energy from CSG and using it directly to heat homes.
