long7, I abbreviated my comments just to keep it simple. I haven't looked in to the cost of transporting all the gear up to the top of hills, the cost of construction, and the energy inputs for all the other parts used, such as the copper cables which have to be run for kilometres to join to the grid. Most of the wind farms in Scotland will only be annoying a few sheep as far as the noise and vibration is concerned; although they knock quite a few eagles out of the sky apparently. The effect on the view is something else, though.
I am not necessarily against wind power or against any other renewable energy technology. The thoughtless denigration of CSG (and/or shale gas, without consideration of the drawbacks of the alternatives, just leaves me exasperated.
