This year Smith & Nephew separately patented their own bone putty and a co-polymer to attach soft tissue to bone. Both are bio-absorbable. Their earlier "ambit" patent for bone fixation systems did refer to 2 Polynovo products, but also made it clear these could be substituted for example by an epoxy resin. Therefore although I would like to think they are going ahead with the Polynovo product, it is by no means clear. Certainly the co-polymer patent lookslike it has skirted around it.
