Volt, I recall those two similar patterns in 1987 vividly. I was in Perth during the first one and I was pondering about a crash then. As it turned out it didn't and I became complacent for the rest of the year. Big mistake. I should have gone short. Instead I was long on the Value Line Index but fortunately stopped out for a small loss the Friday before the crash. I then felt something was wrong all weekend but couldn't put my finger on it. I'll never forget those times. I still made money in the end as I had call options on both Deutsch Mark and Swiss Franks, which I cashed in some time later. I wonder if the same thing will happen again.
