So you're suggesting they are trying to mislead us, as the report said very clear positive changes in anatomy and behaviour? Is this what you are implying?
No, I'm not implying anything. I'm directly stating that the data they show does not support the contention that this drug is an effective treatment of the Fragile X syndrome model in mice. What's more, I've explained why in great detail. Was there something you didn't understand?
What it seems like is that they have provided a selective account. They show stat test of groups that are not relevant (healthy versus not healthy), but don't show the stats test of the crucial treated versus untreated KO mice groups. Do tyou really think that if that gave a significant difference they wouldn't show it? There's no debate here - -the data isn't shown, os its not an issue of your interpretation versus mine. They jsut don't show it at all yet its the crucial test of the hypothesis they are testing.
Worse still, they DO provide data that shows there is no difference between the wildtype mice and the mice with Frgile X without any treatment at all. That invalidates the assay.
Moreover, they don't tell us how rigorous the analysis was (no n values, no mention of experiment number and no mention of stats test used. if they want to convince people, then it requires proof.
You're well within your rights to have faith, but that's all you can have re this data, because what they've shown is pretty ordinary.
