I do have to make a quick note to the people calling others "stats boys" before: Don't be foolish. Evidence in medicine is not some abstract academic preoccupation. When we have bad data, we make the wrong decisions.

Your actions above are no different to seeing a mining company announce "we may have potentially found an undisclosed amount of gold at an undisclosed location", and then criticising anyone who asks "where is it, how much is there, and how certain are you?". That information - the data and statistics - is what really matters.

Thanks to cortinaboy being one of the "stats boys", we (including you) now know what the study entailed, can interpret the results in context, and can make well informed decisions - all because he was diligent enough about his investment to ask these questions, and was kind enough to share the the outcome of his due diligence with us.
