actually, it's our French friends who tell us about the issues. For example they were to scared to go to Paris during the Olympics or attend any events due to fear of terrorists and also very expensive for ordinary folks.
As very strong French traditionalists as you say they also don't like American influence, especially that they are very loud and demanding and America is best for everything.
They tell me to always identify as Australian to be better received and welcomed.
