German nationalism beginning in the EARLY 19th century?
If one were to bother examining a few texts before commenting one would find that a Germany of any sorts did not exist prior to the dispatch of Napoleon III. It was after the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-71 that Germany cohesed with unity around Bismark. Prior to the Austro-Prussian war (1866) Bismark had no influence over the catholic states of southern Germany, making it impossible for German nationalism to take route in the early 19th century. Perhaps you meant early 20th century?
