(a) We are part of an international community that has said that it expects the globe to be carbon neutral by 2050-60. (b) in that respect we are a small tail trying to wag a very big dog if we welsh on our CO2 emissions. (c) Its interesting that the pro-Coal advocates on these threads are also against EVs (d) Renewables are falling short of target so the more EVs we have on the road, the more demand there . will be in the short term for coal fired electricity (e) Due to the OECD commitment to zero-neutral by 2050, and as a trading nation we simply have to comply; . otherwise our exports will be tariffed
Conclusion: IMO its quite tragic that we have so many nay-sayers who oppose going green when the correct strategy should be to capitalise on it via manufacturing (in whole or in part) the products enabling the Globe to go green......we have all the raw materials here but to many nay-sayers who are content to be left behind like the proverbial frog being gradually taken to the boil.
In the past we have relied on Multinationals to do the manufacturing for us and that didn't work out eh? Our long term option is the status quo and a future of being a 3rd world country
To capitalise on going green: -batteries -wind and solar components -EV components
etc etc etc...rather than Multinationals digging it up and shipping it out and morphing into AI & Robotisation (fewer jobs)
