In the East the product is well known and desired - the traditional source has been over harvested which allowed QIN to develop their product as an alternative supply source. The product is geographically defined and requires a higher than normal level of expertise for successful care and maintenance. The 500 staff have this expertise and are the largest employer in Kununurra. Qin has been developing a secondary line in organic non prescription skin care products which are nearing FDA Stage 3 and Stage 2 - if/when they come on the market they will help further smooth the liquidity which right now is, as with most agricultural primary producers, lumpy around harvest. QIN has already developed a distribution channel for Aust sandalwood cosmetics through the Mt Romance and will presumably piggyback the Indian sandalwood products on this channel amongst others.
Basically this product and the plantations established to come through with volume in 2023 are a different kettle of fish to the pine wood plantations.
