    Thanks for all the input everybody. Chappy 58, I think the article and policy to which you refer only applies to pensioners and not people who are in pension mode in an SMSF.
    I Think if Shorten gets in at the next election, his Govt will not collect anywhere near the predicted tax revenue. I have read numerous avoidance strategies , including one where SMSF owners introduce a few more members to their fund , ..maybe their adult kids. Somehow they all get to share the franking credits much in the way Boomeronrations has explained. Of course some people who are just above the govt pension cut out limit will simply spend up big out of their SMSF and then qualify for at least a part pension.
    This will be like the mining tax, where the the Labor Govt had committed and spent the money before they were able to collect any revenue, only to learn that they would never collect any revenue.
    What a mess our politicians get us into.
