    Hi Logco,
    You are right, grandfathering of franking credits changes would have taken a lot of the sting out of the attacks on Labor over this issue.
    We discussed franking credits over and over, pre-election.
    It was poor policy, grandfathering would have just made it worse, as it just enabled sensible long term reform to be put off for longer.
    We still would have faced the problems that it would have caused eventually, as the grandfathers died out.
    And it would still have left us with the looming revenue disaster ,arising from post 60 pension phase tax arrangements.
    There are much better ways of achieving tax equity
    This whole argument doesn't have to be about a greater overall tax take. Whether you think we should be paying more or less tax, this argument should be about what is the most efficient and fairest way of raising the revenue to run our society.
