The cut off above which a home owning couple do not get the full pension is $419,000. The full pension for a couple is $40,000 a year. Add 3% earnings on the $419,000 and that’s another $12,000 so total income of $52,000 a year or $1,000 a week without touching the $419,000 capital amount. Someone on a part pension had higher savings so is even better off. So they can probably survive without the franking credits.
