Because there is a significant difference between the retail price of electricity and gas in the UK e.g. 3.6p/Unit for Gas and 10.8p/Unit for Electricity, the 20% profit stated is too small. It could be that the maintenance cost has been subtracted and therefore if all the electricity is used the amount saved per year would be £284 A$460
Speculation
Also, the new nuclear power stations are in negotiation for a strike price of approx 10p/Unit wholesale, index linked and guaranteed for 35yrs. Retail would be approx 15p/Unit. Meanwhile shale gas should make the price of gas cheaper. If the differential between the two grows then the amount saved per year would be even more but only if the prices are not manipulated by the Government or Energy cos.
To build Bluegen’s that could automatically adjust their output dependant upon the grid frequency is maybe a possibility. To stop oscillations occurring timeslots could be allocated for sensing using a global clock. All the Bluegens would sense the grid at the same time and only increment or decrement in small steps between sensing.
