watso went for a cycle this morning to check up what was growing where ..
watermelon (which was barely edible) ,, along with plenty of butternut pumpkin - were 100% growing on the front verge .. in front of a large fence .. indeed the front verge was virtually covered with butternut pumpkin plants..
another verge - and maybe one butternut pumpkin plant - growing in front of the letterbox .. ie 100% on the verge ..
then to a bit of a vege patch, where watso has had a good chat with the guy who looks after it - and there used to be a sign out the front - something about a "community garden - take what you want ".. so watso picked a couple of tomatoes ..
mm a white mulberry tree .. on a corner block .. probably growing on the verge .. anyway the old lady who lives there - told watso to take what he wants ..
and another property - and a large macadamia tree .. lol lol lol only the parrots would be able to pick the nuts.. but 100% on the verge
then another property - where the verge seems to be intensely cultivated .. and maybe half a dozen banana trees,. a couple of young fig trees and plenty of sweet potato(might have to go past with a shovel one day).. also a fruit tree with young fruit of some sort, and a few odds and sods
mm mm and a real tempting mango tree.. not too big - and no fence - and a footpath going straight past .. watso noticed a large mango, protected in a bag - .. and very easily picked from the footpath ..
amusingly and a footpath along which watso walks most morning - but for the very first time, watso noticed a small apple tree - full of small apples - and 100% on the verge ..
also lemon tree and olive tree - growing 100% on the verge
oh and the green mangoes that watso mentioned - well watso had 4 of them in a brown paper bag, and had them in a wheelbarrow under a nice shady tree .. watso checked them this morning, thinking that they might be ripe by now - lol lol there was only one left .. the rats must have got the others, (or crows - who knows)
