The problem with people trying to calculate the financial return of the NBN is they are only focusing on it taking 30 years (or whatever figure) to pay back on subscription rates.

But you then have to consider all the benefits that a top-class NBN can bring to the country. Not a simple task to identify them, model it, and quantify their values in dollar terms.
