I remember a visit to Perth many years ago, during one its very dry periods, and being invited to the home of a friend of my then spouse, and being surprised at the host's luxurious back garden.
When I asked the owner how he was able to have such a luxurious garden, during such a long and dry drought, he responded by declaring that he didn't believe whatever the Government said about a drought and 'there was plenty of water around'. Needless to say I wasn't impressed by his response and gave an appropriate, but polite, response.
That was also the time when, on visiting the Margaret River caves down South, the water line had already receded to the extent that the planks provided, previously above the water line, were no longer required.
