The trouble is that none of those things are newsworthy. A trial that is finished is yesterday’s news. Platforms for victims just don’t reach the news. It’s really regrettable that he had to do this, but nothing else would grab the headlines. Where are the apologies from the local councils, the police, Blunkett ... ? Anyone with the guts to tell the truth is forced to resign and retract.
