    I don't wish to enter into debate on the "nitty griity" of the faiths but merely ask that we make sure we are not using sources that are inaccurate, or so strongly biased that they merely feed our prejudices.

    My guess is that Goldberg is Jewish anyhow. I noticed a lot of the scholars on the Flavious Josephus page have Jewish sounding names. Josephus is a notable Jewish historian.

    I read an article on the Christian persecution of the Jews in the Age some weeks ago which dealt with the "NT" references that were thought to incite hatred toward Jews. At the end of that article a Jewish Rabbi
    was talking about an upcoming biblical scholar's conference in Jerusalem and he said words to this effect."When we enter these conferences we leave our faith (religion) at the door".

    I took him to mean that there is no difference in the scientific way in which Jews and Christians examine and come to conclusions about the text.

    That's the sort of approach I admire.
