I think with the recent events worldwide ie the fear of slowing global growth and recession, combined with the fact there will be an extra 30000t of REE coming onto the market soon (moly, LYC) -which accounts for a large portion of global demand PA- means that REE prices will remain highly volatile into the future. I remember researching earlier this year about LYC and the major concern was that even though REE demand will obviously grow, we just dont use that much of it globally , something like 136000t PA in 2010?(feb2011 preso) . So coming onto the market with 25% extra supply globally(LYC+MOLY) will negatively affect REE price.
The sell off is way over done though IMO,
