Generally you apply through the prospectus. With FLN you can register online and pay by BPay... took me about 10 minutes.
If you include your chess HIN then they will appear on your trading account when shares are allocated to you, sometimes on the very day of trading i think.
if allocation doesn't take place then money will be returned to you... not sure if by cheque or electronically... most likely by cheque.
