As a Freo member its disapointing that having to play at Simmonds wasnt discussed earlier, especially given the caveat that only Freo would have to do so given they couldnt sell out the big grounds. The extra travel is neither here or there, we travel roughly 6500km's return every fortnight anyway, so thats not a factor. I still think they may have underestimated the fact that around 10,000 extra people would go to the footy at Etihad, so I hope not too many people miss out.

The other thing that no one seems to talk about is the quality of the game if its wet. It's great to be able to close the roof at Etihad and watch high skill footy games being played when its pooring outside, so I hope for footy's sake its not a very wet week ahead in Geelong.

Having said that, the time for name calling or whinging about the finals draw is over.

Lets focus on the footy now, and what a great first week of finals it will be. Friday night is going to be close, heaps of Sydney ins and I suspect Buddy out - wow, it could be a nail biter!! No doubt it will be a sellout at the MCG between old foes Richmond and Carlton, awesome!! The Pies faithful get to fill the G to watch their boys take on a resurgent Port, and a rested Docker team taking it to the premiership "specialists" at the Cats home ground....

Time for everyone to unite, it's September, get behind the game and lets enjoy the last month of this great sport in 2014.

    Disco.
