I like transparency and a fair charge for a fair days work or in fact a fair charge if significant value is added

There's a place for any good quality advisor - I have come across a few good planners (Lindso for example I think is a planner and is extremely clued in), particularly those that do act on a fee for service basis - some clients are well served by advisors

I, like you though, despise so called professionals that serve their own interests before that of the clients often under a shroud of unecessary complexity and convoluted fee disclosure (or charge ludicrous fees and brazenly sell it to a client by beating an opposition's quote which was even more ludicrous for the real effort / skill required)
