Ah that ‘Pensky’!

Since the Democrats won congress there’s been more talk of them looking at ‘the Donald’s relationships with Russia and Saudi Arabia and whether or not they could impeach him.

For ‘the Donald’s’ part, he has been pretty quiet on these and the trade war issues since Mike Pence stared down president Xi, other than to say he doesn’t believe in Climate Change and China is not treating them fairly.

Apart from ‘the Donald’ being quieter than usual since the democrats won congress and the ‘Pensky’ report, there seems to be a few other things that are not being talked about ahead of the G20 such as the US opposition to China’s increasing influence and presence in the South Pacific and South China Sea. This is an even bigger confrontation than the trade war and in my view will be a major side issue when it comes to any agreement (or lack of) at the G20.

As for China, their imports of Russian oil have surged to record levels and China’s state owned CNPC is replacing France’s Total in Iran’s South Pars gas project, the world’s largest gas reserves ever found in one place.

China’s influence in the world is growing and many who think the US has the upper hand in the trade war may be forgetting that though ‘the Donald’ might put 200 odd Billion dollars tariffs on China, China has exports of over 2 Trillion dollars and already many US agricultural stocks and large companies like General Motors are being hit hard.

As for LNG and BTA’s, I wonder if GV would have more success as an Elvis impersonator?? No doubt after the pickup in the US over night energy shares in Aus will get a boost today, but I thought I would dedicate a few songs to our executive team and struggling ‘Cupboard’ dwellers and other share holders.
