They are just too top heavy, look at their competitors and the numbers of management relative to operational staff and compare their wages as well!
Jetstar is a perfect example of a lean airline, Virgin also has a better management model.
Qantas will flounder as long as they are so top heavy with overpaid people adding no value to the actual operation of providing a quality service to customers.
