Using MPC's to help treat T1D is STILL very much on the cards - attempts in the past were not meant to be curative in nature - only to slow the conditions onset, with no clinical data to support success. MPC's have however, been shown to work very well at [conceptually] restoring beta cell function in T1D's - when used in conjunction with other drugs now under development, see linked item for more information http://medicine.missouri.edu/news/0192.php
MSB is of course focused on T2D and complications of D, where we can [likely] make a very real difference. Obviously, no-one can make "slam dunk" statements yet, regarding treatment facts, as we simply don't have the data with trials ongoing, but our initial data for T2D was encouraging.
