Just recently got an email from bell on their sub 5% margin lending rates. I figured it might be time to dabble with a margin loan as I think it is a reasonably risk calculated decision to perhaps go 50/50 margin loan/equity investment in topping up quality yield companies like finbar- even if earnings payouts decrease i can't see it falling below 5% which is what you'd nee dto pay the margin loan.

The issue is my bubble proceeded to pop very fast when I realised you can only margin loan invest in securities per their approved list. I couldn't find FRI

So just posing the question if anyone had a margin loan with FRI and if so which provider/rates had them on their approved list?

Is there a public directory method in finding margin lenders that cover Finbar or any other security we're interested in? Are they generally only ASX 200 stocks - as I'm assuming they don't want you in small caps or any other more 'speculative' looking investments?
