I was trading on IG last night when the platform went down. The platform went down around 12 midnight and did not restart until 1.30am. Thats a whopping one and a half hours down! Everyone was affected and the IG forum filled up with complaints because there was no way to close your open positions. To make matters worse, the market tanked at 12:25am and the IG phone would not connect during the whole time due to the 10s of 1,000s of traders attempting to call the dealing desk and close their positions. My open positions, which were positive before the outage were $650 in the red by the time platform restarted. Phew! I have asked for a refund but I have been told you need screenshots before and after to get a refund which I don't have. So I have sent just them charts showing my open and closing trades instead and can only hope for the best. But I was lucky, some traders lost more than $10k!
