plugger, without going into detail I am finding that technical analysis, i.e. sound analysis of price behaviour based on established principles, does aid in determining the probability of price direction. For me it goes hand in hand with fundamental analysis.
A fundamentally sound stock purchased on a true technical break out had the greatest chance of prolonged price appreciation. Just my opinion.
And regarding Farsight and Lalit's comments on academic prowess and share market success, I agree. The principles are simple and you don't even need a high school diploma to be able to learn them. The real trick is psychology.
Its something that takes 5 minutes to learn and a lifetime to master.
Whilst I would love to trade full time, sooner rather than later, I know that I am not ready for yet. I've only been dabling for 5 years because I have always been in an undercapitalised position. I am also still being dealt the same lessons which would put me in the slow learner category.
I have developed a system that I believe would work for me but I am yet to attempt it consistently.
