Don't know what to make of that. Jockey said had plenty of horse under him but believes he is a better chaser. Haven't had a look at replay but did check times yesterday in the aftermath - second and a half outside class record and home last 600 33.64 - that part reasonably quick but not flash overall. Was happy when he jumped very well and got forward. With weights in his favour thought no chance Axe in particular would go past him but knew we were in trouble early in the straight when Thompson had to put a couple around his backside to try and get going. Only beaten about length and a half so not disgraced but certainly did not run up to what we thought. Did betting tell the story? - thought he would shorten with such a small field and form this prep but actually a small drift - $2.50 freely available late in betting.
