It's a potential signal for a big rise or fall in value, particularly in indices and forex trading that Winkinatcha named.
Wink, correct me if I'm wrong, but basically you look at the moving average convergence/divergence (MACD) on both a 1 minute and 5 minute chart to see if there will be a big break in either direction.
I'm only starting out, but it seems to be quite successful based on when Wink has posted.
I also use the the relative strength indicator (RSI) to cross-check the potential for the move.
