Well, for mine what it's all about is being displayed in the situation in Queensland as we type.
People are helping and supporting others who they've never met.
Why?
Because they realise they're all a part of 1 community, and to support another member of that community is to support the community which supports them.
A belief prevails that 'we' can get through and over this - and that belief cuts across all the 'normal' social barriers. And, at this moment, no one needs to define who 'we' are.
That's what 'friends' do - even if they've never met.
