THE accused killer of teenager Cameron Lowe was released on bail today.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified, is charged with the manslaughter of Cameron, who died in November last year after being punched to the head and falling unconscious on the road.
He was on his way home with his brother and friends from McDonalds in Pakenham when they were allegedly confronted by up to 20 youths.
In a series of heartbreaking comments posted on Facebook after the alleged assault, Cameron described his pain: "Dunno what happened but my jaw hurts ... all I wanna do is cry."
The 17-year-old Pakenham teen failed to regain consciousness and died in the Alfred hospital the next day.
His accused killer is also charged with intentionally causing serious injury to another victim in a separate attack in October last year.
A Children's Court heard the accused teen had been co-operative with police and would attend a committal mention in April.
Police and prosecutors did not oppose the bail application.
A magistrate granted bail on the condition the young man remains living at his current address, not contact witnesses and attend his next court hearing.
The youth was supported in court by his father, sister and girlfiend, but the court heard his mother was too distressed to attend.
