    Though their exposure in subprimes were limited (good investing on their behalf), they still were active in that market and had clear knowledge of its damage being done long before these issues hit the market.

    But then to short the same markets they were involved in due to this knowledge and profit from it is insider trading in any legal book.

    I understand hedging is a way of protecting your downside in an investment, but you usually hedge a small amount in a different market that will benefit from a downturn in your investment (not the same market) - hence limiting your losses. These guys nearly made more profit on their short positions. Thats one big 'hedge'.

    Oh well if it is - whos gonna charge em anyway?
