Agree with your sentiments. Now is precisely the right time to spend a part or all of the surplus. The really good thing is that we have a govt that is actually going to spend it on things that will improve the productivity of our economy. That indicator fell dramatically under the previous govt.
The other thing I welcome is the fact that the $10.4B stimulous package is targeted at those in our community who have the highest propensity to consume. This should compliment Rudd's tax cuts to workers earlier in the year. Together with interest rate cuts this should get people spending again.
If only the bank guarantee had encouraged more inter bank lending and created more credit.
