I wouldn't call the government's actions as "throw at everything". They are part and parcel of the government's economic stimulus package, in part trying to put a cushion under any severe economic downturn.

Regarding your 5.5% unemployment rate, I wouldn't be so optimistic without the government's economic efforts.
