I think pet shops will weather the economic downturn better than most of the categories you have listed, unless we suddenly see an influx of unwanted pets in animal shelter type of animal refuges. We are a nation of pet owners :-)
Small fruit shops will be struggling (but not the bigger ones), yes, as they don't have the economy of scales in their buying power and the nature of their products are so perishable.
