Johannesburg (Energy Publishing) - Exxaro Coal plans a 5,000MW generation capacity roll-out over the next eight years, of which 2,500MW will be coal-fired power.
As South Africa’s largest diversified miner, Exxaro has signed an agreement with four major international coal-based electricity producers for the supply of power as part of country’s base-load programme for independent power producers.
The new coal-based power will be produced in the northern Limpopo province, and will involve the start up of a new mine in the Waterberg coalfield.
