Reflecting on it, if any govt was going to jump the gun on UCG it would be China.

From rare Google Alerts, it seems the Chinese are pretty serious about ucg in the context of anything clever, efficient and greener that helps them address energy needs.

Unlike our Victorian Govt they aren't contrained by seeking to appease owners of aging brown coal generation assets.

Unlike the NSW Govt they aren't hooked on coal mining royalties.

Unlike the Qld Govt they wont bow to singular energy lobby groups like CSG.

Unlike the Federal Govt, the Chinese can recognise and encourage emerging energy initiatives with scalable potential.

But like the WA Govt, the Chinese see an urgency to develop syngas production for powergen.
