Coal seam gas -- trapped stores of methane hundreds of meters below the Earth's surface -- is one of the world's hottest energy plays. More than A$20 billion was spent in 2008 on deals in Australia alone.
With much of Australia's best coal seam gas acreage now in the hands of major companies, interest has fanned out to other resource-rich Asian countries.
Imagine ROG comes out with a first CSG estimate, interest will rapidly increase. So far BUL isn't taken yet and a few in NSW. But how long will that be the case ?
