    It's an interesting quandary, especially for a start up technology. However, I think the company could never have achieved the same level of exposure as they have through these tragic events.

    Whether Nearmap are paid or not for this work is almost irrelevant. They really have had an incredible amount of market exposure, probably more than any other spatial company in the history of Australia. I believe management has made the right decision to do this work for free. Those affected by these events will not forget that kind of generosity.... that has to be good for business.

    So in saying that, there is no excuse now. This will be the test to see whether the technology and product is commercially viable beyond the events of Jan 2011.
