98.5% recovery..fyi...A lot of people were unaware that they had contracted the virus..only got tested when close contacts tested positive and discovered they already had antibodies!! Numbers sound high but that's because of the huge population..1.3 billion.
As for the pyres...that's cultural..how bodies do get cremated. A centuries old practice.
