Being a current operator at bluescope port kembla i can honestly say that my department has had approx 3 or more restructures in as many years resulting in about 50% of operators being made redundant or outsourced.Yet the staff or supervisor numbers have remained the same.Currently we have a supervisor to operator ratio on dayshift 5 operators to 4 supervisors & a superintendent.On back shifts its 2 operators & 1 supervisor.This company is so top heavy with staff & supervisors its ridiculous their would be a 50 to 100 mill saving a year on just removing all these tiers of lower management.
