    probably BBY (a big stockbroker) buying and selling to themselves to create artificial volume and make traders think there are actually buyers that want big amounts

    nothing dodgy about x trades generally but when they are matched within seconds then its dodgy

    the entity doesnt actually want to buy any stock so he sells to himself before anyone else can sell into him

    or if he puts the big sell order up first he makes sure he linewipes it straight away to avoid spooking genuine buyers and avoid making genuine sellers offload
